Your application renders on a local Windows workstation; Innoactive encodes that render and streams it to Apple Vision Pro. Both halves of that pipeline run on the same machine, so the workstation is the single biggest factor in how a review session feels — resolution, frame rate, raytracing headroom, and how large a scene you can load without paging.
The three configurations below are the ones Innoactive recommends today. They are ordered by scene complexity and rendering ambition rather than by price alone, and they apply to any application you stream through Innoactive Spatial — Autodesk VRED, Unreal Engine, Unity, or NVIDIA Omniverse.

XL — Lenovo ThinkStation P8

The XL tier is the configuration to specify when the workstation is a shared asset that has to handle whatever scene is put in front of it. The Threadripper PRO platform brings more memory channels and PCIe lanes than a desktop platform, and the P8 chassis is built to sustain a 600 W GPU under continuous load — which is what a raytraced streaming session at Vision Pro resolutions actually is.
Choose XL for full-product datasets — a complete vehicle in Autodesk VRED, for example — for raytraced reviews, and for permanent review-room installations.
Note that a workstation streams to one Apple Vision Pro at a time. A shared XL machine in a review room therefore serves several people in sequence over the course of a day, not simultaneously. Multi-user sessions need one workstation per participating headset — see Spatial collaboration.
L — Lenovo ThinkStation P4

The L tier pairs the same full-power GPU as the XL with a high-clock, large-cache desktop CPU. Interactive viewports are sensitive to single-thread performance, so the higher boost clock and the additional cache often produce a more responsive session than a larger core count would — while keeping 128 GB of memory for large assemblies.
Choose L for teams whose scenes are large but whose bottleneck is interactivity rather than raw core count, and for departments that want XL-class rendering in a smaller, quieter chassis.
M — Lenovo ThinkStation P4

The M tier keeps the full 96 GB of GPU memory — so scene size is rarely the limiting factor — while the Max-Q variant halves the board power to 300 W. That means noticeably lower heat and noise, which matters when the workstation sits next to the person wearing the headset.
Choose M for individual reviewers, desk-side deployments, and rooms where power or acoustics are constrained. Expect lower headroom than L or XL in heavily raytraced scenes.
How to choose
- GPU memory decides how large a scene you can load. All three tiers carry 96 GB, so the practical difference between them is sustained rendering throughput, not capacity.
- GPU power envelope decides sustained frame rate. The 600 W Workstation Edition (XL, L) holds higher clocks under continuous raytracing than the 300 W Max-Q variant (M).
- CPU clock and cache decide how responsive the application itself feels — scene loading, switching configurations, and the control interfaces the Vision Pro app talks to.
- System memory decides how much of your assembly stays resident. 128 GB is the safer specification for full-product datasets; 64 GB is comfortable for single-assembly reviews.
If your scenes already exceed the memory of your current workstation, a data-preparation pass often changes which tier you need. For Autodesk VRED, start with Reduce VRED memory usage.
The rest of the setup
Hardware is only half of a stable session. Whichever tier you choose, also make sure:
- Windows 11 with a current NVIDIA production driver. Windows 10 has reached end of support and is not recommended.
- A supported application version with streaming enabled — for Autodesk VRED that means 2026.1 or newer with the Web Interface turned on, as described in Stream Autodesk VRED to Apple Vision Pro.
- Wired uplink from the workstation to the switch, and a dedicated Wi-Fi 6E access point for the headset — see Optimize the network for local streaming.
- Firewall rules in place for local discovery and streaming — see Ports to whitelist.
An underpowered network will spoil a session on an XL workstation, while a well-tuned network makes the M tier feel considerably better than its specification suggests.
Testing scope and other vendors
These workstation configurations have been tested by Innoactive or its affiliates, and the recommendations above reflect that hands-on experience. They are not an exclusive requirement: comparable workstations from other vendors, built around equivalent CPU, GPU, memory, and storage specifications, can be expected to perform well with Innoactive software.
